Hope Centre Westhoughton- Background

The former school and building known as the 'Communiversity' had been managed by Westhoughton Active Communities Organisation (W.A.C.O.) and used as both a base for community groups and an amenity for groups requiring significant space for activities such as fitness, dancing and martial arts. With the support of both Bolton Council and Westhoughton Town Council, this building, which is adjacent to the Community College on Central Drive, has become a useful and well-used resource for Westhoughton. In the summer of 2013 Hope Church entered negotiations to take over the lease of the building with the intention of using it as a base for the Church and continuing to offer the facility for use by local community groups: as such it is business as usual with a change of name to the Hope Centre.

During the course of time Hope Church will be investing money in the building to improve and renovate thus showing a long-term commitment to the community and building itself. The facility is currently being used by a number of groups, with some slots available for meetings and activities. There are facilities for refreshments.
